A point that I don't see as being worth getting offended by and antagonistic over. What they are saying is that, in all likelyhood and observed gameplay, it doesn't affect the game for those who don't partake in it.

No one is defending the microtransaction process, or even defending this instance. Many of the people posting are just repeating memes and didn't read the article, let alone understand how the resource gathering and crafting system works in this game. Nothing else seen in the demo, mentioned in the article, or present in footage paints the doom-scenerio that the game is unbalanced due to the. However, the only thing supporting the attacking end is that it's an EA game and bad usage in unrelated products. There's nothing wrong with it being an issue if the arguments hold up. Yet people are getting bent out of shape due to some superiority complex, in which a publisher catering to anybody other than themselves is unforgiveable. But currently we have no evidence whatsoever to suggest this is nothing more than an entirely optional afterthought that can be easily ignored. I said it before, and I'll say it again if DS3 releases, and we all find that the game pushes you into buying these materials by making grinding them a real bore, then I'll be one of the first out for EA's blood. And I'm not so arrogant as to say that these people shouldn't be catered to because their tastes and purchasing decisions don't coincide with my own. But the reason these things exist is because other people do buy them. I also have no interest in things like Avatar items, gamerpics, etc. I have no intention of spending real money on anything I can earn in the game through normal means. Maybe you don't understand because you have a hard time comprehending that people want different things than you?
